Oh, wow.
45 days.
Forty-five.
I had my first dress fitting yesterday, and it was actually quick and painless. I have pictures, but it's getting too close to the day for me to want to post anything David might stumble upon. I did have my jewelry and veil to try on with it, and they looked incredible! We're also going to go with Plan B on the shoes. Teal and ivory don't go well. Thank goodness for Zappos! It's difficult to find cute, dressy, size 11 flats.
We also eschewed DIY flowers in favor of a local florist. We'll still be using the milk glass I collected, however. It's getting so close to the day and there so much stress, mostly from changing jobs so close to a major event, that we decided to rethink how much DIY I can actually handle.
The last batch of invitations are in the mail! The to-do list is winding down, but I still need to get a hair dresser. (Note to self: HAIRDRESSER.)
So, there you have it! Update!

A bird for my birdcage
On Saturday, I went to Michael's with my mom and my aunt. I don't know if there was craft glue in the air or what, but things got a little silly really fast.

The Veil
I almost titled this "The Birdcage," but then I broke into a fit of giggles because I love that movie so much.
My birdcage veil arrived in the mail some weeks ago, but I've been so busy that I haven't taken the opportunity to post about it yet. So, here it is! The veil post!

Five Years!
We're coming up on our five year anniversary! WOW!
As a quick recap: David and I met at our friend's house for a gaming session. He found out that I was moving to Somerville and offered to help me move in. +1 for David. While my roommate and I were having a housewarming barbecue, I intended to ask him out to a movie (since he was a film studies professor, I figured he'd provide better conversation than the often encountered "DUDE! That was AWESOME!"). However, lots of sangria foiled that plan. So, I was wicked gauche and emailed him. He said yes. Sushi + sake + Brick + kissage = We're getting married now.
And Wil Wheaton. Wheaton is involved too.
I have no idea what happened to that hoodie. I kind of liked it!
Anyway, we're going to have a nice, fun long weekend, thunderstorms be damned!

I'm starting to see why people hire wedding planners...
...Because we have 144 days to go and this is how I'm feeling:

Let's see... most of the Save the Dates are out. I'm still waiting on a few addresses.
We still need to schedule a second tasting to resolve Cheese Crisis 2011.
No idea what to do with flowers.
My dress has arrived, but David hasn't looked at tuxes at all, as far as I know. And the tux companies are starting to get really annoying with e-mails and phone calls.
Hotel blocks.
Ceremony musicians haven't responded to me, so I don't even know what to do there. Disappointing.
Hair stylist. Not even researched yet.
Invitations aren't ordered yet.
Passport renewal! AGH!!

Wedding Knitting Update 2
BEHOLD! (Again!)
The ends still need to be woven in, but the real glove #1 is finished. If you remember, I made glove #1 before, but it was too small for me. This version, knit on US 2, 3, & 4s (rather than 0, 1, & 2s), fits like... you know.
Now to get moving on glove #2. Part of the problem is that when I get home, I'm much too exhausted to work on something that requires fine motor skills (or basic functioning). We'll get it out, though. The pattern is very easy to memorize, so I'm confident that I can duplicate this.
